Guests of honour

Paul Cornell

Paul Cornell is best known today for his work on Doctor Who, starting with the New Adventures novels, launching the Missing Adventures, writing comics for Doctor Who Magazine, and several Big Finish plays (some co-written with his wife, Caroline Symcox). He also created the other 9th Doctor (Richard E Grant) for BBC Online's Scream of the Shalka, and wrote the Hugo-nominated episodes Father's Day, Human Nature and Family Of Blood (the latter pair adapted from his New Adventures novel) for the current TV show.

During the New Adventures he created the companion Bernice Summerfield, who has gone on to have a spinoff life with books and audios from Big Finish.

He has also collaborated with fellow DW authors Keith Topping and Martin Day on a series of programme guides for Virgin, covering not only Dr Who, but also The X Files, The Avengers and Star Trek: TNG, among others.

Away from DW, Cornell has novelised the ITV SF thriller The Uninvited, and had several SF novels - such as British Summertime and Something More - published by Gollancz.

His TV career has encompassed Coronation Street, Springhill, and Children's Ward, before he created the childrens' TV series Wavelength in 1997. He has written for many of the BBC's hour-long drama shows, including Casualty, Holby City and Robin Hood, and most recently contributed an episode to ITV's Primeval.

He has also written comics for both 2000AD and Marvel Comics, where he penned the "Wisdom" miniseries. Currently he is writing Captain Britain And MI-13.

Previous guests

One sign of how fan-friendly Redemption guests are is that several of our guests have come back again. We make it a policy that any guest automatically gets free membership to all future Redemptions (although they have to pay their own expenses and hotel room), and several of them have done so.
