Booking to stay at the hotel

If you are staying at the hotel, you must book your room(s) through the convention. All the rooms in the hotel will be allocated to the convention, and, even if another web site appears to let you book at the hotel for the con weekend, the hotel will not be able to honour the booking.

Room rates

These include breakfast for the people booked into the room. If extra breakfasts are required, the hotel will charge for them. The convention rates for the different kinds of rooms are (per room, per night):

Single: £62.50
Double/twin: £75
Family: £85
Disabled (specially adapted): single £62; double £75

The family rooms will contain either a double bed and two singles, or four singles; and the 'disabled' rooms contain two single beds, and are specially adapted for wheelchair users and people with impaired vision.

In addition, the hotel can supply extra beds for use in rooms. An extra bed will cost £10 per room per night; there is space for only one extra bed per room. Cots are available free of charge; the hotel has eight cots available.

Smoking rooms

A few of the hotel's guest rooms allow smoking in the room; most are non-smoking. If you have a preference, please indicate it on the booking form. Please also use the 'Hotel notes' field on the booking form to indicate if your preference is very strong, or relates to medical issues. We will do our best to accommodate everyone's preferences.

The hotel will remove all ashtrays from smoking rooms before the con weekend, and will ensure that the rooms are well aired. If you are in a smoking room and do wish to smoke, you can obtain an ashtray from the hotel reception.

Please note that the hotel requires a non-refundable deposit of £10 per person to secure the room bookings. When you book your room with the convention, please pay your deposit to us (cheques made out to "Redemption"), and we'll pay this on to the hotel when we arrange your room.

Arriving and departing

You can check in at the hotel from 2.00pm onwards. Early check-in may be possible by special arrangement with the hotel, but it can't be guaranteed.

On the day of your departure, you must check out by 11.00am. Later check-out may be possible by prior arrangement, but cannot be guaranteed, and will usually involve a fee. Please note that there is no facility for 'express check-out'.

Other hotel facilities

The hotel does not have its own car park. The closest public car park is the Cox Street Car Park. However, others are available, some of which may be cheaper for the full weekend. For more details, see our page on driving and parking.

Free wireless internet access will be available in all function and social spaces for the duration of the convention.
